TXRF spectrometry. Research visit

Last week, we were hosting two scientists from Portugal, Dr. Nicolas Schaeffer from the University of Aveiro and Dr. Mónia Martins from the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança. It was a research visit with workshops, presentations, and discussions.  Our distinguished guests conducted the training on TXRF spectrometry and its applications. They presented the TXRF instruments and their calibration, sample preparation techniques, running samples, troubleshooting common issues, and data analysis. At the conclusion of the visit, we explored the joint research projects, and funding opportunities. It was a very fruitful meeting.

ICPN 2024: HONORARY PATRONAGES

We are proud to announce that The International Conference on Plant Nanotechnology 2024, which is organized as part of the NANOPLANT project, will be held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science of the Republic of Poland and the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences. NanoTech Poland Conference 2024

On June 5-7, the NANOPLANT team representation took part in the NanoTech Poland Conference, which took place at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań. The conference was devoted to the use of nanotechnology in energy, electronics, environment, and biomedicine. We talked to the participants about our project and invited all to the International Conference on Plant Nanotechnology 2024.

SCIENCE MEETS INDUSTRY. VISIT AT AGRII POLSKA

On May 29, we had a great meeting with Agrii Polska at Aleksandrów Kujawski. Mr. Tomasz Haase and his team explained the facilities related to seeds and fertilisers. We have also presented the idea of NANOPLANT project and our nanofertiliser technology. Further research and business collaboration were planned. As a next step, the Agrii Polska team will visit us in the near future to further strengthen our cooperation.

POLISH-INDIAN COOPERATION  ESTABLISHED

This May, we were visited by Prof. Samuel Gnana Prakash Vincent, the coordinator of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Research Park.
We presented our project and our institute. We discussed implementation of scientific archievements in the industry. Finally, the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the MS University Research Park and the Institute of Plant Genetics Polish Academy of Sciences has been signed.

How does innovative scientific research lead to the creation of startups and commercial businesses?

On May 20, begins the visit of Prof. Samuel Gnana Prakash Vincent at the Institute of Plant Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Prof. Prakash is the coordinator of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Research Park, which aims to foster the creation of 400 Deep Tech Startups by 2030, through collaboration with G20 and European Nations.
Today, as part of the NANOPLANT project, he will talk about innovation, deep tech startups, and business, and will share his experience.
The seminar will take place from 11:30 to 13:00 in the conference room of the Institute.

8th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference: our summary

In mid-May, we visited The 8th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference in Dresden, Germany. Our team presented 6 posters. Our stall was open for all the days. We participated in multiple inspiring presentations and we met other scientists working in related fields.
The capstone of the event was The Best Poster Award for dr. Sagar Biswas, winning the second poster session.
The next edition of the conference organized by Elsevier will be held in March in Pune, India.

8th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference

The NANOPLANT team will attend the 8th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference on May 13-15 in Dresden, Germany.
It aims to explore inter- and trans-disciplinary aspects of green and sustainable chemistry and the role of chemistry in contributing to achieving the SDGs.
A high-level topical program includes 17 keynote and invited speakers, the finalists of the Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge, contributed talks, and posters.

Work on a new publication is in progress

Sagar Biswas

On February 19, 2024, during the team meeting, Dr. Sagar Baswas presented the progress of his work related to ionic liquids. It was an opportunity to deepen this topic together and reflect on improved thermodynamic stability. You can expect an interesting publication on this topic in the next few months!

IMPROVING PLANT TRANSFORMATION

Dr. Lokesh Veeresh

On February 12, 2024, during the NANOPLANT team meeting, Dr. Lokesh Veeresh presented his current scientific work on functional validation of vir gene mutants and possible improved Agrobacterium mediated plant transformation. The presentation inspired a long discussion in the team about various scenarios for further research. We hope that soon you will be able to read the results of Dr. Veeresh’s work in more detail in a research publication.

Green and Sustainable Chemistry Conference 2024

The NANOPLANT team will participate in the 8th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference in Dresden, Germany, which will be held on May 13-15, 2024. NEW STAKEHOLDER: CROPTIVATE

It is our pleasure to announce Croptivate as a new stakeholder in the NANOPLANT project. Croptivate is renowned for producing top-class fertilizers and biostimulants for agricultural markets, with its base in the Netherlands and production facilities in Germany. Our collaboration with Croptivate will focus on two key areas: developing new green formulations for sustainable agriculture and biostimulant/biocide-plant interactions.

NEW STAKEHOLDER: INTERMAG sp. z o. o.

We are very pleased to welcome INTERMAG sp. z o. o. as a stakeholder in the Nanoplant project. The main activity of the company is the development and production of modern preparations for agriculture and it is one of the largest producers of fertilizers and biostimulants. We will take the opportunity to better understand farmers’ expectations and discuss our ideas for the development of a nano-fertilizer and the elaboration of joint proposals in this field of research.

A lecture by Dr Sagar Biswas


On Wednesday, 13 December 2023, Dr Sagar Biswas gave a lecture titled “Exploring the Opportunity of Ionic Gels and Liquids towards Nanobiocatalysis”. The lecture was a part of the scientific seminars organised by the Institute of Plant Genetics PAS. Its major focus was to explain the bridge between chemistry and nanobiotechnology.

IPR SEMINAR

We invite you to participate in the IPR seminar “Legal Framework of Intellectual Property Rights in Nanotechnology” given by Mr. Jan Dobrzański, a Polish and European patent attorney and litigator for European patents. Mr. Dobrzański is a partner at AOMB Polska, one of the leading patent law firms in Poland.
The seminar is organized within the framework of the European Union-funded NANOPLANT project and will take place on November 30, 2023 (Thursday) from 12.00 to 15.00 Warsaw time in the conference room of the Institute of Plant Genetics.

Training on NanoDrop™

On October 10, 10.00-12.00 Warsaw time at the laboratory no 18, a training on NanoDrop™ One Microvolume UV-Vis Spectrophotometer from Thermo Scientific™ for measuring the quantity and quality of DNA, RNA, and protein samples will be conducted.

TRAINING

On September 19-20, 2023, 8.00-16.00 Warsaw time at the laboratory no 15, we  will have the opportunity to take part in the training on operation of the S2 PICOFOX transportable TXRF spectrometer for ultra-trace element analysis. 

IAB MEETING 

September 11, 2023 was the first day of the International Advisory Board (IAB) Meeting. Part of our team presented their performances, scientific excellence and other activities of the project. In the second part of the day the members of IAB visited the laboratories of the IPG PAS.

On August 16, 2023, we had a guest – Dr. Abirami Ramu Ganesh from nbio Norway. We had the opportunity to discuss potential collaboration in the blue-green sector for the development of nanofertilisers.

WEBINAR

On Friday, August 11, 2023, 9.00-10.00 am Warsaw time, Dr. Dibyendu Mondal, the ERA Chair Holder in the Nanoplant Project will give an online seminar entitled, “Nanostructured Neoteric Solvents Assisted Sustainable Strategies for Improved Protein Packaging”. It is organized as part of the AFRICA-ai-JAPAN Project, an initiative between Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Kenya and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). On July 19, 2023, the ERA Chair Holder, Innovation Broker, Project Coordinator and the Director of the IPG PAS had a brainstorming session with the representatives of the uFraction8 company, an SME working on microfluidics technology. Many areas of cooperation between NANOPLANT and this SME have been discussed.

On July 14,  2023, at 15.00 Warsaw time, the the NANOPLANT Team will organize a brainstorming session on the premisses of the Institute of Plant Genetics PAS. The aim of the meeting is scientific interaction.

NANOTECH POLAND 2023

The Department of Plant Nanotechnology will be participating in the “NanoTech Poland 2023”, an international conference which will be held from June, 14-16 2023, at the NanoBioMedical Centre (NBMC), an organizational unit of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (AMU), Poland.

WORKSHOP FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS

On April 28, 2023 (Friday) at 09.00 Warsaw time, a team of primary school pupils from a local primary school in Poznań Poland will visit the IPG PAS with an aim to particularly learn about nanotechnology and institute’s activities.

COIL9 

On April 24-28, 2023, the 9th Congress On Ionic Liquids (COIL9) will be held in Lyon, France. On April 27, Dr. Mónia Martins will deliver her presentation entitled: “Studies on the
controlled release of metal ions from nanomaterials using ionic liquids for agricultural applications”.

On September 26-30, 2022, the 3rd Conference of Advances in Green Chemistry – AGChem 2022 will take place in Poznan Science and Technology Park.

IAB MEETING

On September 22-23, 2022 the first IAB Meeting will be held at the IPG PAS in a hybrid mode. All NANOPLANT team members will attend (in person or virtually). Prof. Eva Cellarova (Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice) will also visit our laboratories and facilities.

On July 8, 2022 a representative of LABSOFT Company will give a talk and demonstrate the use of spectrometer in nanotechnology, especially in plant science. All of you interested in an elemental analysis are welcomed in the conference room of the IPG PAS at 10.30 a.m.

On July 7, 2022 the Department of Plant Nanotechnology will host a workshop as a way of introduction to NANOPLANT in the conference room of the IPG PAS. All who wish to participate will learn more about the structure of the department, ongoing research projects. There will also be a chance to visit our laboratory and greenhouse facilities.

Dr Mondal was invited to give a talk entitled: “A Journey from Chemical Science to NANOPLANT: The Learning Curve”.

The ERA Chair of NANOPLANT Project Dr Dibyendu Mondal will give a talk entitled, “Strategies for enhanced protein nano-engineering with improved stability and activity”, during 4th edition of the World Nanotechnology Conference to be held on April, 25-27, 2022. This will be a great opportunity to take part in a forum where scientists from all over the world discuss and exchange their latest research effects in the field of nanotechnology.
