Two senior researcher and one senior postdoc Position in the area of plant nanotechnology at the Institute of Plant Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IPG PAS)

Required Qualifications

 
  1. Ph.D. in plant science, nanotechnology, or a related field and has developed some
    degree of independence.
  2. Outstanding scientific achievements in research in one of the fundamental areas of plant
    nanotechnology.
  3. Experience in the application of OMICS (transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics
    and functional genomics), molecular and biochemical approaches to plant-nanomaterial
    interactions.
  4. Ability to attract competitive research funding and manage projects.
  5. Excellent communication skills in English.
  6. Ability to communicate with other scientists and stakeholders at the interface between
    academia and industry will be positively evaluated.
 
  1. Ph.D. in Agricultural Science /Agronomy/ Plant Science or related field and has
    developed a degree of independence.
  2. Outstanding scientific achievements in agronomy, plant physiology, organic farming,
    life cycle assessment of formulations and etc.
  3. Previous experience in assessing the impact of nanomaterial-based formulations is an
    asset.
  4. Ability to attract competitive research funding and manage projects.
  5. Excellent communication skills in English.
  6. Ability to communicate with other scientists and stakeholders at the interface between
    academia and industry will be positively evaluated.
  1. Ph.D. in the field of nanotechnology/any field of nanoscience/material
    science/chemistry with exceptional analytical skills.
  2. Outstanding research publications in any aspect of nanotechnology (chemistry,
    biochemistry, nanomaterials, environmental, engineering, or applied research).
  3. Interest in applying nanotechnology knowledge to establish new experimental
    approaches in plant science; previous experience in plant science is an advantage but
    not essential.
  4. Good organizational skills and experience of working in a team.
  5. Excellent communication skills in English.
  6. Ability to work with other scientists at the interface between academia and industry will
    be positively evaluated.

Main duties

  1. Conduct high quality research in the field of plant nanotechnology and develop an
    innovative research profile.
  2. Exploit synergies with existing teams and develop national and international
    collaborations.
  3. Achieve the objectives of the project in close collaboration with team members, the
    chair ERA and the project coordinator.
  4. Ensure close collaboration with ERA chair and project coordinator and achieve all
    measurable outcomes specified in the project description.
  5. Disseminate the research results through high quality publications, participation in
    conferences, workshops and seminars.
  1. Development and scaling-up of nanoformulations for fertilizer, disinfectants, biocompost, seed coating etc. applications.
  2. Physico-chemical characterization of the formulations.
  3. To study the impact of the formulations on plants using different analytical methods.
  4. Include but not limited to conduct high quality scientific research, train students and
    visitors, prepare high impact scientific articles for publication and drafting of progress
    reports.

The selection of the best candidate is carried out in two rounds. In the first round, candidates
will be evaluated on the basis of their scientific performance and academic excellence
(leadership skills, administrative experience, international mobility and team leadership). The
documents submitted by the candidates will be evaluated by the Selection Committee and the
top candidate(s) will be invited, on a first-come, first-served basis, to give a presentation to the
Selection Committee (via videoconference or by visiting IPGPAS).

Criteria for the assessment of candidates to be employed at the IPG PAS in senior or
postdoc positions:

1. Matching the candidate’s experience and skills to the planned field of study
2. Creativity measured:
a) the quality and number of publications in which the candidate is the first author or
corresponding author, as well as the number of citations of the candidate’s papers
(Web of Science Core Collection) and the Hirsch index;
b) number of patents/patent applications and/or implementations (if applicable);
c) the quality and number of managed research projects and development works (if
applicable).
3. Mobility in their scientific career, including completed scientific internships, change of
scientific profile, internships and work in industry.
